Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy in the Smithfied, Clayton, Goldsboro Area

Bioidentical hormones have the same chemical structure as hormones that are made naturally by the human body. The difference between bioidentical and synthetic non-bioidentical is in the molecular structure. For replacement hormones to fully replicate the function of hormones that we naturally produce, the chemical structure must match the original exactly.

It is the structural differences that exist between bioidentical and non-bioidentical hormones that are responsible for side effects and health risks that occur when non-bioidentical hormones are used by humans.

The goal of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement therapy is to provide an adequate supply of a deficient hormone in a form that is molecularly identical to that which your body produces. Logically, this would result in the hormone’s normal, healthy physiologic effects being restored. Every person is unique and it is sensible to have a customized BHRT program based upon your individual symptoms and hormone levels.

Goals of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Include:

  • Alleviate the symptoms caused by decreased production of hormones. (Such as: sleep problems, mood swings, increased body fat, decreased libido and sexual function, hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety)
  • Re-establish the protective benefits which were originally provided by higher levels of your naturally occurring hormones. (Such as: bone density, cardiovascular health, immune function, balance, energy, and memory)
  • Reverse diseases associated with aging (Such as: osteoporosis, loss of muscle strength, fatigue, exercise intolerance, decreasing muscle mass, mental clarity)
  • Enhance the enjoyment, sense of well-being, improved libido, and quality of life over the long-term.

Bioidentical Replacement Therapy Treatment Options

At Evolve Medical Spa, BHRT treatments are given by pellet RX. Molecularly identical pellets have been available and approved in the US since 1939. Candidates will have a tiny incision made, about a 16th of an inch, and a small pellet the size of a grain of rice, will be inserted into the fatty layer under the skin. A skin tape will cover the incision which will heal quickly. The incision spot will be nearly undetectable once healed.

The pellets last approximately 3-4 months, at which time a repeat insertion is suggested if the candidate choses to continue with treatment to prevent symptom recurrence. Laboratory tests prior to treatments and reinsertions are required.

Common Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Questions

When Will I Notice Improvements?
Every candidate is different, however most notice improvements in mood and sleep during the first week of treatment. Significant improvements will be noticed after undergoing a second pellet treatment and are enhanced when paired with exercise and a healthy diet.

Does Everyone Respond to Treatment?
While rare, there are some candidates who do not notice an improvement after their second treatment. Pellet RX doses are individualized, candidates laboratory results and symptom reporting play a critical role in determining the appropriate dose.

Are There Other Treatment Options?
Yes, there are additional treatment options. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement therapy can be taken via cream, table or injection. However, these treatment options have inferior absorption profiles, resulting in inconsistent spiking or erratic hormone levels and can require more frequent dosing.

Are There Health Risks to Not Treating Hormone Deficiency?
Multiple studies have linked low testosterone to heart disease, osteoporosis, obesity, breast cancer, cognitive disorders, immune suppression, cancer, diabetes and more.
