Different Types of BHRT
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a customized hormone replacement therapy that helps supply an adequate amount of a deficient hormone to the body.
BHRT helps to alleviate the symptoms associated with decreased hormone production, reverse diseases associated with aging, enhance a person’s well-being and more.
Types of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
There are multiple types of BHRT available. Each treatment type is customized to the individual person to help restore the body’s ability to produce natural hormones. The following treatment types are:
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy pellets are small cylinder-shaped tablets that are made up of the hormones and inserted into the body. The pellets are no bigger than a ‘Tic Tac’ and are inserted into the upper buttocks under local anesthesia.
Pellet therapy delivers consistent hormone levels for 3-4 months in women and 4-5 months in men. Pellet therapy avoids the fluctuations of hormones and ensures there is a normal ratio of estradiol to estrone, which is important for optimal health and disease prevention.
It is very important patients choose a doctor who is experienced in pellet therapy insertion and determining the correct dosage necessary.
Bioidentical hormone replacement patch therapy allows the hormones to enter the bloodstream directly and gradually through a patch placed on thin skin areas, such as the inner arms. Patch therapy should not be placed on fatty areas as the hormones will not effectively be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Patches only need to be applied once a week and offer a more even release of hormones than creams or oral dosage.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy by cream involves a patient applying gels and/or creams directly to the skin, up to twice a day. The hormones in the creams are absorbed by the skin and then enter the bloodstream. One of the most important benefits to hormone cream therapy is that by applying in small doses, we prevent extreme hormone highs and lows.
*Pellet therapy continues to deliver consistent results to its patients and is the only form of BHRT that Evolve Medical Spa prescribes.*
If you notice signs of hormone imbalance, such as hot flashes, loss of libido, urinary problems, gynecomastia, weakness, sleep problems, mood swings, depression, memory loss, anxiety, decreased muscle tone, or increased belly fat, you may be eligible for BHRT.
(This is not a complete list of hormone imbalance symptoms. Please consult with your doctor if you notice signs of perimenopause, menopause and andropause.)
